The Rescue Diver course is the next step after Advanced Open Water Diver. In this challenging course you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to manage risks and effectively handle limited in-water problems and diving emergencies. The course will include the following: assists, transports, surface rescues and rescues from depth involving both boat- and shore-based skin and scuba divers.
Areas of instruction include basic diving equipment, diving skills, diving science, decompression tables and computers, dive planning and recording, dive safety, and problem solving.
Requirements for this course include Open Water Scuba Diver certification or equivalent. As a certified diver, it is expected that you will furnish and be responsible for the care and maintenance of your own diving equipment. We will assist you in checking that all your gear is adequate and in proper working order.
Additional requirements include demonstrated swimming and Scuba proficiency. In addition, Diver First Aid (DFA) or Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR & First Aid and Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries (EO2) are required. DFA certification may be added to this course.
Knowledge training includes the causes, prevention, and treatment of diving accidents; recognizing signs and symptoms of common Scuba problems; diving rescue and; general accident management.
Practical training includes a pool dive and least 2 open water dives at depths up to 60 feet in the springs of Central Florida. Skills practiced include emergency management, rescue/diver assist techniques, problem solving and, a real-time rescue scenario.

The Rescue Diver course meets the prerequisite rescue training for NAUI Skin Diving Instructor, NAUI Assistant Instructor, NAUI Divemaster and NAUI Instructor certifications.
